Fundraiser Account Set Up for Willow Grove Fire Victims

Written by Leann Pettit

A Pay It Square account has been set up to help victims of the Sept. 8 fire in the Willow Grove section of Abington that destroyed four dwellings within two twin structures and damaged a fifth structure, as previously reported by Patch.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, according to Abington Fire Marshal Ken Clark.

A Facebook group has been set up to support Alex Wood, a resident of the 1900 block of Fairview Avenue in the Willow Grove section of Abington Township, who lost his home during the late night fire.

According to that Facebook page, "Alex also sustained burns to his hands in an attempt to stop the fire from spreading." According to the Pay It Square page for the Wood family, the funds collected through the fundraiser will help the Wood family "get a jump start on the long journey of recovery ahead of them."
