Abington YMCA marketing and communication director Beth Kenas said in an earlier interview that the event has been promoted as a family friendly.

“It’s just the right thing on the right day,” Kenas said. “A lot of families like to exercise before the feast.”

And on financial assistance for the YMCA's programs, Kenas said, "We don’t turn anybody away. Basically everything we do is to raise money and to give back to the community. I think that’s why the Gobble Wobble got so big.”

Last year's race was the biggest in its history, with an estimated 2,700 runners.
