Blue Christmas Service

The people of St. Peter’s Church invite you to share in a quiet, contemplative candlelight service of prayers, Scripture and music.

Not everyone is able to share in the usual joyful anticipation of Christmas, or the constant jollity of the season. Many of us experience feelings of sadness, loneliness or fear at this time of year as we face Christmas alone or in despair. Some grieve the death of a beloved spouse or a precious child. Others grieve the loss of a dear friend, a broken relationship, or the loss of health or youth, while others struggle with unemployment or poverty. There are countless reasons why one may feel unable to join in the mood of celebration. We feel “blue” and isolated, alone in our sadness.

It is in such difficult times as these that we need to acknowledge and honor our feelings, our broken hearts; the emptiness within. In these longest, darkest days of winter, God’s Word comes to shine in our darkness. Please join us in this service of quiet reflection, remembrance, comfort and hope.
