Arcadia University Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner

GLENSIDE,

Pa. (Oct. 25, 2013)
—Arcadia University is celebrating the

historic twentieth Empty Bowl Benefit dinner to raise awareness for hunger and homelessness on Monday, November 18. The community is invited to

participate in this service event. Seating is by ticket only with continuous

seating from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in Grey Towers Castle (450 S. Easton
Road, Glenside).

In response to this devastating disaster the Arcadia Community Service Office is dedicating half of the proceeds from Monday, November 18th’s Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner to Philippines relief. All proceeds raised through this effort are shared between Interfaith Hospitality Network, a local agency assisting the homeless, and Heifer International. The funds donated to Heifer will be designated for their efforts in assisting those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. All proceeds donated to Heifer will help with rebuilding homes and farms and replacing lost livestock.

Since
1993, Arcadia University has been holding the Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner to assist
agencies which work to address hunger and homelessness both locally and internationally.
Everyone who attends will get to select a handcrafted bowl made by Arcadia
students and other local artists in and the around the community. They can then
fill their bowls, choosing from an assortment of mouth-watering soups, amazing
breads, and desserts—all donated by generous area restaurants and individuals.

“Participants
take their bowls home to serve as a reminder of the many people in the world
who live with an empty bowl every day,” says Cindy Rubino, Arcadia’s Community Service Coordinator.
