The results are not official, but one of the two tied races for township commissioner in Abington has a leader.

Montgomery County Spokesman Frank Custer said this afternoon that incumbent Republican Lawrence Jones has a two-vote lead over Democrat Michael O’Connor in the race for Ward 3 commissioner, which ended in a 510-vote tie on election night, according to unofficial results.

“Nothing is official and nothing has been certified, and again, this is unofficial, but as of now in the Ward 3 race, [Lawrence] Jones is two votes ahead of the Democrat,” Custer said. “Apparently, the results of the race are not in dispute.”

“The solicitor’s office is still determining what method will be used should there be a tie.”
