New-Style Wawa Opens In King Of Prussia

The DeKalb Pike location offers familiar Wawa food with a different look to the store.

The region's newest Wawa store opened Thursday morning in King of Prussia. The store at 145 West Dekalb Pike has the same products as every big Wawa but the outside and store layout are a whole new look for Mid Atlantic Wawa stores.

Outside the new design is literally necks and mortar and higher than the Wawas you're used to seeing in this part of the country.

Inside the store is laid out unlike your current neighborhood store. The deli/fresh food section is in the center of the store instead of off to one side.

One of the other biggest changes is the check out area. There are separate check out stands for cigarette an tobacco sales and non-tobacco customers.

There are two registers for each. A company spokesman say the idea is to move customers through the line without having to wait while a clerk searches for a pack of cigarettes.

The new store design is the standard for the company's 25 stores in Central Florida which have opened in the past year and are based on customer feedback.
