Senior citizens will collectively start–and race–their vehicles on Friday morning in Horsham.
Grandfathers aged 65 and up will compete in a round of electric go kart racing at Speed Raceway for the chance to win their grandchild a tropical vacation, two-day passes for the Made in America Festival and more prizes as part of 93.3 WMMR’s Grampy Grand Prix competition.
Meredith Baker, Speed Raceway’s corporate sales/marketing representative, said the radio station approached the Horsham franchise about hosting the event.
“It was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up,” Baker said. “Many of us here at Speed Raceway are fans of WMMR.”
The race gets underway on Friday beginning at 6 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m. WMMR hosts Preston and Steve will be broadcasting live from the event and will be giving away prizes onsite, according to the event listing on the radio station’s Web site.
Speed Raceway will be open free to spectators interested in coming and cheering on the racing grandfathers. WMMR said racers already been chosen for the competition. But, for those wishing to race during the live broadcast, Baker said Speed Raceway will offer discounted races.
