Snow Could Make A Mess of Monday Commutes

A winter storm warning is in effect for the region.

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Sunday morning, guaranteeing another six weeks of winter, and the groundhog wasn't kidding: Another half-foot of snow is headed our way.

A winter storm warning will be in place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said. The area likely will see between 4 and 6 inches of snow, the NWS said.

The snowfall will be heaviest from 7 a.m. to noon, the NWS said, with the snow falling at a rate of about an inch an hour.

"Travel will be very hazardous or impossible," The National Weather Service said in a statement.

Winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected, with gusts of up to 20 mph. Temperatures in the low 30s are likely.
