Abington Library Extends Scarecrow Contest Deadline

There's still time to sign up through this Friday.

Abington Free Library has announced that the deadline for its Friends'-sponsored Scarecrow Competition has been extended through this Friday, Sept. 28.

Create a scarecrow at home that resembles a children's book character. Your scarecrow should be creative in its depiction of the character you choose, and should encourage people to want to read the book. Scarecrows shouldn't be more than 6 feet tall, and must be able to sit on a bench. You shouldn't use any perishable items (like pumpkins), and you can't decorate the floor around your scarecrow.

Plan to drop off your scarecrow this weekend during regular library hours, and pick it up on Oct 28 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The contest is open to individuals or families. Entry forms and contest rules are available here, and also at the library's circulation desk.
