Gobble Wobble Today

The Abington YMCA has residents on their feet before the big sit down-dinner.

Dust off those running shoes and get some cooking done ahead of time. It’s time for the Gobble Wobble.

On Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28, the Abington YMCA will hold its 11th annual Gobble Wobble 5K and 2-mile run to benefit the Abington YMCA’s financial assistance program.

The non-wobbly 5K starts at 9 a.m. at the YMCA at 1073 Old York Road in Abington.

Abington YMCA marketing and communication director Beth Kenas said in an earlier interview that the event has been promoted as a family friendly.

“It’s just the right thing on the right day,” Kenas said. “A lot of families like to exercise before the feast.”

And on financial assistance for the YMCA's programs, Kenas said, "We don’t turn anybody away. Basically everything we do is to raise money and to give back to the community. I think that’s why the Gobble Wobble got so big.”

Last year's race was the biggest in its history, with an estimated 2,700 runners.

The race starts at 9 a.m. and will be held rain or shine. Registration runs from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. For cost and more information about the race, visit the YMCA website here

Parking will be available at the Y parking lot, the Wells Fargo lot and at the Abington Library lot.
