Glenside Resident is Top Female Finisher in Horsham ‘Freezer 5K’

The Glenside woman was also the top female finisher in last year's race.

Elizabeth Sweeney, of Glenside, was the top female finisher – for the second straight year – in the second annual “Freezer 5K and 1-Mile Fun Walk” in Horsham on Sunday.

Sweeney finished with a time of 18:44, besting her time last year.

Jake Portock, of Harleysville, was the overall winner for the second straight year. His time of 17 minutes flat bested his time last year as well.

The course, which starts and ends at Simmons Elementary School, winds along Horsham’s Power-line trail. Proceeds benefit the Horsham Township families and the Horsham Parks and Recreation Department.

  • Corey Driscoll of Ambler finished second in the male bracket with a time of 18:10.
  • Bill Salamone of Rosyln finished third with a time of 18:32.
  • Lotte Black of Ambler finished second in the female category with a time of 19:46.
  • Gert Freas of North Wales came in third with a time of 21:36.
  • 12-year-old Joey Cahill of Blue Bell was the top finisher among those under 13 with a time of 20:03.
  • Ross Schriftman of Horsham won the male 60-69 division with a time of 22:04. 

More than 300 runners took part in the professionally timed race.
