Get Out—What Are You Doing This Weekend, Abington?

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time.

Where/When: Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust, 2955 Edge Hill Road, Huntingdon Valley; Sept. 9, 2 to 7 p.m., Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Shop for unique native plants, most grown on-site by Pennypack volunteers, and learn from plant experts who can help you plan your green space. Become a member and receive a free gift.

Pricing: Free admission

Where/When: , 1501 Narcissa Road, Blue Bell; Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: The annual fundraiser for Angel Flight East includes an artists and crafters showcase, sightseeing flights, music, entertainment, food, a petting zoo, children’s activities and much more.

Pricing: $8 admission and parking

Where/When: 2595 Rubicam Ave., Willow Grove; Sept. 10, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Willow Grove NAACP and Abington Township Environmental Advisory Council are “teaming up to green up” by sponsoring the Green Expo to inspire students and adults to pursue “green” careers, and give them tools to “plan their work and work their plan.” The expo will feature keynote speakers, information sessions, short films and more.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Calvary Presbyterian Church, 405 Easton Road, Willow Grove; Sept. 10, 5:30 to 7:40 p.m.

Why go: The annual Corn Roast is a chance to meet your neighbors and enjoy farm-fresh corn with butter, salt and pepper. Open to all.

Pricing: Free

 

5.

Where/When: , 1500 Marian Road, Abington; Sept. 11, 4 p.m.

Why go: The community of Abington Township will gather to observe the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Many community groups, including the township police and fire companies, will participate.

Pricing: Free

Take the easy way out - for about $20 plus or minus with tip go to the Mexican guys in Quakertown.Read More They are on the south bound side where the old battery warehouse was - directly across from the big car wash on 309. They did my SUV for $25 including generous tip - inside and out, dressed the tires and did the windshield about 3 times! These guys are fantastic and really do a great job for the money.
