Mom and Dad, don’t panic, Patch has got the scoop on the best events to entertain your family, and keep boredom at bay!

Check out our five picks for things to do in your community this week!

 

1.

Where/When: , 102 Park Ave., Willow Grove; June 16, 7 p.m.

Why go: Just in time for Father’s Day, the book signing will feature a slew of local and national sports personalities, including Jayson Stark, Sal Paolantonio, Mike Missanelli and Merrill Reese.

Where/When: First Energy Stadium, 1900 Centre Ave., Reading; June 17, 7 p.m.

Why go: Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate Chamber Night at the Reading Phillies. Tickets are available for pick up only at the EMCCC office.

Where/When: Copper Beech Elementary, 825 N. Easton Road, Glenside; June 18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: The 15th annual community yard sale will feature more than 60 participating homes. Some proceeds will benefit the Glenside Gardens Civic Association. New this year: “Carol’s Corner” at Fern Road and Pleasant Avenue, will be home to various professionals—a jewelry and coin appraiser, a decorator, a Wells Fargo mortgage representative—from 9 a.m. to noon to give you advice and answer questions.

Pricing: Free admission

Where/When: Abington Township Building, 1176 Old York Road, Abington; June 18, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why go: In honor of Abington’s diversity, and in support of the local non-discrimination ordinance, a celebration will be held with guest speakers Rep. Josh Shapiro, an ACLU representative, the president of Equality PA, entertainment by The Planets and Spiral Q Puppets and more!

Pricing: Free

 

5.

Where/When: Abington Library, 1030 Old York Road, Abington; June 20, 3 and 7 p.m.

Why go: Joe Reeder, who served in the 11th Armored U.S. Cavalry, will discuss his experiences in Europe during the Cold War. The Lecture Series meets every third Tuesday of each month at 3 and 7 p.m.

Take the easy way out - for about $20 plus or minus with tip go to the Mexican guys in Quakertown.Read More They are on the south bound side where the old battery warehouse was - directly across from the big car wash on 309. They did my SUV for $25 including generous tip - inside and out, dressed the tires and did the windshield about 3 times! These guys are fantastic and really do a great job for the money.
