Former Abington Coach Named to Pa. Sports Hall of Fame

Dee Fitcher Cross has been named to the South Central chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

 

Dee Fitcher Cross, the head coach for the Upper Dublin girls' lacrosse team, has been named to the South Central chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, according to Philly.com.

Cross, of Oreland, was previously the head coach at Abington.

"She was a standout player at Norristown in the late 1970s and went on to earn team MVP honors in three of her four years at Shippensburg," according to the article.

Cross was featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" in 1978 and was a member of the U.S. Women’s World Cup Lacrosse silver medalist team in 1986 and the U.S. Women’s Lacrosse World Cup Champion gold medalist team in 1989.

She has also coached her two daughters at Upper Dublin.
