College Station Construction Progresses

Construction at the 50-unit College Station apartment complex being built solely for Penn State Abington students is moving along.

The outer façade of the York Road structure has been put in place and officials say it's on track for students to begin moving in by Aug. 24.

Brittany Shull, a leasing and development representative for College Town Communities, told Patch that she did not know how much her company was spending to build the apartments.

Once complete, the fully furnished two-bathroom, four-bedroom apartments will be leased "by bedroom" solely to Penn State Abington students for either 10-month or 12-month leases, she said.

To date, Shull said she's reserved half of the units and expects the rest to fill quickly.

"This is pretty much the closest we could've gotten," Shull said of the apartments' location 2.5 miles away from campus.

Shull said she visited the campus every week for the last six to eight weeks of school to talk to students about College Station.

Rent per student will be $695 per month and includes all utilities, cable and Internet, Shull said, adding that she tells students to "bring your bag of clothes and you're pretty much set."

College Town Communities, the company building the units, also owns student housing for Penn State Harrisburg and Kutztown University students.
