Parkinson’s Disease Foundation Offers Online Seminar on Sexuality and Intimacy in Parkinson's on Tuesday, September 10

Expert Information for People Touched by Parkinson’s Disease and Health Professionals

WHAT:  “Sexuality and Intimacy in Parkinson's” is the first in a series of six interactive online and phone seminars, or PD ExpertBriefings, hosted by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF).  It will focus on how people touched by Parkinson’s disease can cope with challenges related to sexuality and intimacy.

WHO:  Gila Bronner, M.P.H., M.S.W., C.S.T. is a certified sex therapist and the Director of the Sex Therapy Service in the Sexual Medicine Center, Sheba Medical Center, Israel.  The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation ® (PDF®) supports the scientific research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people who are touched by Parkinson’s disease.  Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested more than $142 million in research, education and advocacy programs.

WHY:  As many as one million Americans live with Parkinson's disease, a chronic and progressive movement disorder for which there is no cure.  People with Parkinson’s disease and their partners may experience challenges related to sexuality and intimacy that can affect quality of life and intimate relationships. Yet these challenges are rarely discussed among people with Parkinson’s disease and their doctors. This PD ExpertBriefing will provide participants with strategies for making real changes in this sensitive aspect of life.  Participants will also learn about basic sexual health rights and how non-motor and motor symptoms of Parkinson’s can affect sexuality.

WHEN:  Tuesday, September 10, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET.

WHERE:  Participants can take part in the PD ExpertBriefing via phone, using a unique toll-free number provided at registration, and/or can also watch and listen online, through PDF’s website.

HOW:  To participate in this seminar online or by phone, contact PDF at (800) 457-6676, email info@pdf.org, or visit www.pdf.org/parkinsononline.  Pre-registration is highly recommended.  Online viewers will be able to ask Ms. Bronner questions during the second half of the seminar.
