He also explores Bernstein&rsquo\;s enga gement with social issues and talks about Bernstein&rsquo\;s time in Phi ladelphia at the Curtis Institute of Music. He is the founder and Artistic Director of the Philadelphia Classical Symph ony. His engaging presentations mix scholarship with showmanship and are noted for the bold\, revelatory ways they reframe the classical music e xperience. His artistry has been cited in the music journal 19th Century Music and was twice awarded &ldquo\;Best in Philly.&rdquo\; A career ed ucator\, Middleman has served on the faculties of Arcadia University\, C abrini College and Philadelphia and Montgomery County Community Colleges .
