DESCRIPTION:American Artist\, Christine Graefe Drewyer\, opens a new solo
exhibit at Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art - New Hope PA.\nCocktail Re
ception October 6\, from 2-5pm\nA new collection of oil paintings by awa
rd winning American Landscape Artist Christine Graefe Drewyer will be f
eatured at Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art from October 5 - 28\, 2012.
\nThe solo show titled "In the Moment" is a metaphor for this body of w
ork that is intended to portray an immediate sense of time and place.\nI
t is these very conditions which give the paintings their true value. T
his work evokes a connection to the land and imbues the viewer with a s
ense of timeless memory that can only be captured one moment at a time.
\nAs with many of her works\, Drewyer evokes a spiritual expression in
this show. &ldquo\;I wanted to emphasize the &lsquo\;oneness&rsquo\; of
life &ndash\; how we are all so alike &ndash\; instead of focusing on o
ur differences. Whether a landscape is of Maryland\, Pennsylvania\, or
even France\, there is always something that you can relate to\, especi
ally with sunsets\, which have a universal appeal no matter where you a
re.&rdquo\; &nbsp\;The landscape is more than a geographical location.
These pieces communicate a spirit of beauty which is created by the way
that atmospheric conditions and light brings life to the paintings.\nD
rewyer says that she likes to focus on moments in time with a lot of he
r work &ndash\; a sunrise or sunset or dusk\, those quick glimpses of e
veryday life &ndash\; and describes her work as representational and ton
al with a soft edge. &ldquo\;Original art has an energy all of its own\
 ,&rdquo\; she adds. &ldquo\;When I paint\, it&rsquo\;s an actual place.
I&rsquo\;m a realist in that way\; nothing is added or imagined. I pai
nt in plein air\, and then go back to the studio to finish the painting
because of the various layers and tones.&rdquo\;\nThe feature painting
 titled "The Messenger"\, a 30 x 24 oil on canvas\, congers an indicatio
n of harmony between humankind and the natural world\, instilling a fee
ling of hope and connectivity.\nAlso included in the exhibit will be som
e of Christine's still life and figurative paintings.\nChristine is a me
mber of the following prestigious organizations:\nMember of the Washingt
on Society of Landscape Painters\, American Plains Artists\, Salmagundi
Club NYC\, Oil Painters of America\, American Impressionist Society\,
Associate Member of Women Artists of the West\, and the National Associ
ation of Professional &amp\; Executive Women.\nThe public is invited to
join us for a cocktail reception hosted at the gallery on Saturday Octob
er 6\, from 2-5 pm.\nFor more details call the gallery 215.862.5272 or v
