As the weather gets colder, kids spend more time indoors. Instead of letting the TV run for hours or allowing endless video games, winter is the time to think creatively and engage your kids in indoor activities that will keep them busy and happy!
Abington Art Center provides several opportunities for kids to explore their creative side while having fun indoors in a way that doesn't involve screen time. There are three new Youth Workshops being offered for kids ages 7-12.
The Clay Sampler class for ages 9-12 will be a fun class to try handbuilding and wheelthrowing skills. Kids can get messy and create pots., animals and sculptures. Puppet Masqueres for ages 7-12 will allow children to make thier own puppets looking like animals, people or mythical creatures. Children ages 7-12 looking to improve skills can take the Drawing, Painting and Printmaking Explorations class and experiment with both traditional and non-traditional techiques.
In addition to the weekly workshops, Abington Art Center presents Eureka! every Sunday afternoon. From 1-3pm families can come together for to explore the Art Center's galleries and outdoor Sculpture Park and then make art together! Each month is a different project tailored towards all ages and abilities.
October will focus on Mask Making, while November will engage families in tile making. In time for the holiday season, December's theme is ornaments. These workshops are $5 per project with members being free.
