Woman in Petraeus Case Has Local Ties
Jill Kelley used to live in the Huntingdon Valley area.
The woman whose complaint to the FBI may have led to the resignation of CIA Director General David Petraeus last week has a connection to the local area.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Jill Kelley, 37, lived in Huntingdon Valley before moving to the Tampa area about ten years ago.
An FBI investigation into harassing emails allegedly sent to Kelley by Paula Broadwell, Petraeus's biographer, led to the discovery of an extramarital affair between Petraeus and Broadwell.
Extramartial affairs are considered security risks for officials in sensitive positions. A third party could, for example, use the threat of revealing such an affair to attempt to blackmail an official and gain access to sensitive information.
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California), who heads the Senate Intelligence Community, said the FBI had told her there was no indication so far that national security had been breached.
