State Rep. Dean Named to Southeast Delegation Leadership Team
The Southeast Delegation of the state House Democratic Caucus elected its new leadership team today during a reorganizational meeting in King of Prussia.
Rep. Steve Santarsiero, D-Bucks, was elected chairman of the delegation. Reps. Tina Davis, D-Bucks; Margo Davidson, D-Delaware; Madeleine Dean, D-Montgomery; and Pamela DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Philadelphia; were elected vice chairmen. Rep. Matthew Bradford, D-Montgomery, was elected treasurer, and Rep. Maria Donatucci, D-Delaware/Philadelphia, was elected secretary.
“As the largest delegation within our Democratic Caucus, we have an opportunity to make real progress with a focus on good government and our region’s shared values,” Dean said. “I look forward to the leadership of Representative Santarsiero as our chairman and I am humbled to serve as a vice chair of the delegation. I will work hard with all our members. As a lifelong resident of Southeast Pennsylvania, I am proud to have this robust and energetic group of legislators in my corner.”
Santarsiero said the rapid growth of the caucus since 2006 has given the delegation a greater say on budget issues and is helping to foster an environment of change.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues to strengthen our region’s economy with prudent investment in education, rebuilding our infrastructure and protecting our environment,” Santarsiero said.
“It is a privilege to assist in leading this delegation in the 2013-2014 session,” DeLissio said. “With five new members and many returning members, we have a group that has solid and extensive private and public sector experience. The delegation is prepared to bring its collective expertise to Harrisburg on behalf of our constituents.”
The delegation now has 21 members, making it both the fastest growing and largest delegation within the House Democratic Caucus.
Freshman members of the Southeast Delegation from Montgomery County are Reps.-elect Stephen McCarter, Mary Jo Daley and Mark Painter, all from Montgomery County.
Other returning members from Montgomery County are: Reps. Brendan Boyle, Tim Briggs and Matthew Bradford.
