According to reader Cindy Ragusa, the SEPTA switching track, which is behind the homes on Tyson Avenue, caught on fire today at around 3:30 p.m.

Ragusa called 911; dispatch sent two fire trucks — one from Weldon and one from Roslyn.

“My sons guided everyone through the backyard to the track where they put out the fire that continued to smolder,” Ragusa said in an email. “My son said that there was a layer of tar on the ties which may have been continuing to burn. SEPTA has been out there for a while now letting the trains go through while probably working on the switch.”

SEPTA could not immediately be reached.
