Roslyn Fire Displaces One

Fire breaks out in Roslyn.

Fire crews from Abington, Roslyn and Weldon fire companies responded to a fire yesterday morning at a bungalow-style house in the corner of High and Pershing avenues.

According to Abington Fire Marshal Ken Clark, the call came in at 10:13 a.m.

"The first on the scene saw fire and smoke blowing out a front-bedroom window," Clark said. "The fire was under control in about 8 to 10 minutes."

Clark said one man lives at the house; he evacuated safely and went to a neighbor's house, who called 9-1-1.

No one else was injured.

According to Clark, the house's bedroom sustained significant fire damage. The rest of the house suffered smoke damage. Clark said the house will likely be rebuilt.

Wood cabinets and furniture were strewn on the corner house's lawn. The items were still there as of this afternoon.

Clark said the fire is under investigation.
