Rash of Burglaries Probed in Glenside
Burglars hit four homes in two weeks, according to Abington Police.
Glenside residents may have a reason to be extra vigilant when it comes to looking over their homes.
Four homes, two on Oakdale Avenue, one on Parkdale Avenue and one on Woodlawn Avenue, were burglarized, according to Abington Police Deputy Chief John Livingood. Two of the burglaries happened last weekend; the other two burglaries happened the weekend before that.
Livingood said he suspects they’re related.
“They appear to be happening in the early evening — between 5 and 9 p.m.,” Livingood said.
Livingood said that it is possible that homes are being targeted when the homeowners go out to dinner.
In the four incidents, the thief, or thieves stole small items like jewelry.
“We’re still determining whether it’s more than one person,” Livingood said.
In none of the instances did the burglar make contact with the homeowner.
“We stepped up patrol and we’re working and sharing information with surrounding police departments,” Livingood said.
