For the first time in program history, the Penn State Abington men's soccer team claimed the North Eastern Athletic Conference regular-season title. The Nittany Lions finished 9-1 to earn the top seed in the playoffs and the right to host the tournament this weekend at Germantown Academy.
The five competing teams in this year's tournament are:
- No. 2-seed Morrisville State (8-1-1)
- No. 3-seed Cazenovia College (7-1-2)
- No. 4-seed Penn State Harrisburg (6-3-1) and
- No. 5-seed SUNYIT (6-3-1).
On Wednesday, Penn State Harrisburg and SUNYIT faced off in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs; Harrisburg took down the two-time tournament champion SUNYIT in penalty kicks with a 4-2 shootout victory.
On Saturday, Nov. 3, Abington will face conference foe Harrisburg in the first semifinal game slated for 8:30 a.m.; Morrisville State and Cazenovia College will play the 10:30 a.m. semifinal game.
The winners of the semifinals will square off in the championship round on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
