Charges are pending for Matthew Gibbons, 35 of an unknown address in Philadelphia, for his involvement in a string of thefts in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

On Jan. 20, a complainant reported her 2012 Lexus was broken into while parked at B & R Fitness Club in Feasterville. Her purse, identification and several credit cards were stolen from her vehicle. An investigation revealed these cards were used to purchase merchandise at several local retail establishments.

During the investigation of this theft, Lower Southampton Detectives discovered that similar crimes had occurred in Abington, Upper Dublin, Upper Moreland, Warrington, Whitemarsh and Cherry Hill. Any valuables and credit cards were stolen. They would then use the credit cards to purchase various expensive electronic items. According to Lower Southampton Police, a firearm was stolen in one incident.

Lower Southampton Detectives obtained surveillance images from B & R and some of the retail establishments. A green Chevrolet Malibu was captured on video and a Pennsylvania tag was obtained.

Anthony Flego, 37 of the 2500 block of E. Seltzer Street in Philadelphia, developed as a suspect.  The involved police agencies began a joint investigation.

Lower Southampton and Warrington Police interviewed Flego Jan. 31 at Lower Southampton headquarters where he admitted to his involvement in the thefts and identified his codefendant Matthew Gibbons, 35 of an unknown address in Philadelphia. Both of these subjects were captured on video surveillance recovered during the investigation.

Flego was subsequently arrested and charged with access device fraud, criminal conspiracy, theft, identity theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, criminal attempt, possession of an access device knowing it to be counterfeit or altered, and possession of credit cards of another without their knowledge or consent.

He was arraigned and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Matthew Gibbons was arrested by Pennsylvania State Parole Agents on Jan. 31, 2012 for a parole violation. He is being held at S.C.I. Graterford.  Charges are pending for his involvement in these incidents.

Charges against both subjects are pending in Montgomery County as well.
