Roadsigns are supposed to help people find their destinations. If most people leaving the turnpike there are headed to Lansdale, then the exit's current designation is communicating what it needs to communicate. And if the half dozen people in Kulpsville have a problem with that, I'd say Lansdale challenge them to a friendly game of tug of war.

Following this rationale, the Norristown exit of the PA Turnpike (exit 333) should be renamed "Plymouth Meeting." Would the residents of Norristown, the county seat, be in favor of that?

Why not name it Kulpsville/Lansdale?

Leave it as Lansdale. The drug dealers will get confused if the name is changed.

I love that the author of this article lives, "on the Lansdale-Towamencin border". So which is it really, Lansdale or Towamencin? This matters just about as much as the issue at hand.

As a resident of Towamencin, whose zip code is Lansdale and post office is in Kulpsville, I'm so glad our tax dollars are being spent on such important issues like the name of the turnpike exit.

I live in Montgomeryville, but have a Lansdale mailing address. Too many deliveries are sent to the Lansdale exit of the Turnpike ... 35 minutes from my house. It's a misnomer ... like saying the Montgomery Mall is in North Wales. PEOPLE ... Kulpsville and Towamencin are NOT in Lansdale ... neither is Montgomeryville ... rather ... their mail goes through Lansdale.

Hey, why not change / rename the Fort Washington exit to Lansdale ... it will surely confuse everyone else!

It seem as though Lansdale Boro has nothing better to do than to argue the merits of another Municipality. It would be like Lansdale trying to compel Mayor Nutter to change the name of a Philadelphia Bridge. As for Lansdale being a destination ... SURELY they jest! Destination for WHAT? Theoretically ... any place is a destination!

This is about as classic a local squabble as it gets, but I think Lansdale has the lead on this. Not only does it already have the name, but Turnpike exits are commonly named after the largest nearby town, not wherever the exit actually happens to be (which is sometimes large itself, just not the biggest around).

Just add relevant townnames to the sign! Lansdale, Towamencin, Kulpsville

Why not call it North Penn and be done with it? No confusion there.

I say incorporate the Towamencin/Kulpsville names along with the name Lansdale on the same sign. In all actuality the turnpike exit IS NOT in Lansdale anyhow. It never should have been changed.

The change may have been for the pragmatic reason that Lansdale was an expanding suburban municipality and Kulpsville ,well, was not. I'm 60 and I don't ever recall it being called Kulpsville. For that matter, it technically should have been called Mainland. Renaming would really confuse the generation who was born and learned to drive since the change. For that matter, why not rename the whole system "The New Sweden Turnpike," or else just let sleeping towns lie?

I like Andrews idea of just naming it the North Penn exit. That way everyone is included.

Why change something that isn't broken? It will cost money to make any kind of change. Fix the roads the signs are fine. In some place on the Turnpike you can't even see the signs they are covered with tree limbs.

Why in the world is this Evan an issue? Everyone knows this as the Lansdale exit. Why cause confusion? Please, please, PLEASE don't call it North Penn. I work in the area and deal with a lot of outside truck drivers. I'm constantly being asked if North Penn is a direction (the opposite of South Penn). I am constantly explaining that North Penn is the area not the direction, lolol.

The name of the exit is not always the 'largest town' nearby. Case in point, the Mahoning Valley exit. It references the Mahoning Creek, which isn't exactly accurate since it also includes the Lehigh River valley and the Pohopoco Creek valley. Same holds true for the Pocono exit. So why not change the Lansdale exit to Towamencin? It only matters if someone cares.

Quakertown should be the Milford Exit

Since the turnpike exit has always been known as the Lansdale exit, changing the name to anything else would be confusing to travellers. If this is an issue with residents, I suggest adding both ‘Towamencin’ and ‘Kulpsville’ to the existing sign. The addition would give more information instead of causing confusion by taking ‘Lansdale’ down. That is sure to please everyone.
