Host an Epic Super Bowl Party

Plan the perfect event for The Big Game, for guests from football lovers to newbies to couldn't-care-lesses.

The Big Game. America's Game. The Super Bowl. The NFL's championship match up is such a big deal that it's trademarked, and it's often used as a measure of greatness and grandeur: The Super Bowl of (insert noun here).

The Super Bowl is virtually only sporting event we collectively watch - attracting over 90 million viewers - whether our teams are playing, or watching at home from the couch just like us. It's also just about the only game for which we throw annual parties.

In the spirit of that tradition, Patch has some great ideas to make your Super Bowl party one that will keep your guests talking until next year, no matter the outcome of the game.

Free printables! - Print cupcake toppers, food labels, water-bottle labels, art banners and "Champions" banners for each team.

Cater to picky eaters - As someone with a discerning palate, I thoroughly appreciate the idea of providing a blank canvas of a meal and allowing guests to customize it themselves. This basic jambalaya recipe gives you the freedom and flexibility to incorporate a bunch of mix-ins on the side - shrimp, sausage, ham, veggies - so each of your guests can enjoy jambalaya the way he or she likes it.

Pretend to know what's going on - Here's your Cheat Sheet for Super Bowl XLVII. Get the scoop on who's playing, what to watch for, and a few interesting facts you can throw out there to make you look like you know what's going on.

Commercial Bingo - If you suffer through the football game just for the commercials - arguably the best ads you'll be subjected to all year - make a game of it. Print out a filled-out Bingo sheet, or a blank one to fill out yourself, with ad subject matters, activities, stars, target audience and more. The first person to get a rull row wins!

Be kid friendly - Host a kid-friendly Super Bowl party by thinking like a kid. Enlist your children to help you decorate and prepare fun game-day treats. Set up games and trivia for the kids who aren't interested in watching the game.
