Glenside Fourth of July Parade Fundraiser Friday Night
The Greater Glenside Patriotic Association is looking to raise $55,000 to put on the annual parade and fireworks display.
The Greater Glenside Patriotic Association will hold its annual social Friday night from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Glenside Knights of Columbus Flaherty Council center to benefit the Glenside Independence Day celebration.
Tickets are $30 and are available from volunteer members of the GGPA; food-drink chairpersons Margy and Rick Kass (215-884-2251); or through the patriotic association website, http://www.glensidejuly4thevent.com/. Catering will be provided by O'Neill's Market, of Glenside. The social will offer musical entertainment and several door prizes donated by local merchants and businesses. Tickets are also available at the door.
The Knights of Columbus is located at 235 Limekiln Pike, Glenside.
Among the oldest, consecutively run July 4 marches in America, the 110th annual parade will step off at 4 p.m. from VFW Post 676, and will take a 1.5-mile route through the Glenside business district along Easton Road. GGPA officials call the event a “big city parade in a small town, real Americana setting."
The celebration's finale will be an after-dark “America the Beautiful” aerial fireworks spectacular to be launched at about 9 p.m. from the Abington Township maintenance yard off of Florey Lane.
