Family Members Speak Out on Natalie Marella's Death

Natalie’s grandmother, aunt and mother discuss Natalie, and the police investigation surrounding her mysterious death

Natalie Marella’s family is speaking about her death and the police investigation that began when her body was found Aug. 29 in a New Hanover Field.

“I would like to clear up some rumors regarding Natalie’s situation,” Marella’s mother, Marion Devicchis Marellla, posted on Natalie’s Facebook page. “We do not know anything as of yet. The detectives are working on finding out what happened. Until then no one knows. If anyone has any info regarding her whereabouts from Sunday to Wednesday, please come forward! Thank you!”

Natalie Marella, 26, lived in Ambler and had been studying to be a nurse, according to her aunt, Karen Marella. She was last seen by family on Sunday.

“Her mom and dad are kind of working with the police to find out what exactly happened, how she ended up there,” Marella said.

Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin R. Steele is requesting assistance from the public to piece together Marella’s last days. The public is urged to call county detectives at 610-278-3368 or New Hanover police at 610-323-9356.

Marella’s grandmother, Elizabeth, said that police aren’t telling the family much, and they do not know when the toxicology report will be released.

“They’re not telling us anything,” Elizabeth Marella said. “They have to do what they have to do, and I am very understanding of that.”

Elizabeth also has confidence that, if there was foul play, police will get to the bottom of the case.

“If a person or [persons were] involved, they have not surfaced,” Elizabeth Marella said. “I'm sure today, with the thoroughness of the police force, they will come to a conclusion. You see it every day. If there is foul play, it may take a while, but there will be a conclusion.

While dealing with the investigation, the family continues to grieve the loss of their loved one.

“My son and his wife are devastated,” said Elizabeth Marella.

“She was always happy, cheery, and she loved people,” Karen Marella said of Natalie.

Stay tuned for further updates.

There is an unspeakable sadness to this case.

Here is an obviously beautiful young lady with career aspirations yet troubling thoughts and some questionable friends. But she is someone's daughter, niece, granddaughter, etc., and many persons hearts are broken.

I can't see how anything good can come out of this. Please let us respect and support the family with sensitivity and tact.

Natalie was such a beautiful person. She was a true free spirt and inspiered people to love unconditionally. She held a special place in my heart and will be sorely missed. (Alex Wolfe)
