Briar Bush to Charge ‘Modest’ Admission Fee
The nature center had been offering free access to its museum since 1962.
Beginning Jan. 2, non-Abington residents and non-members will pay a fee to visit the museum building at Briar Bush Nature Center.
“Briar Bush has been fortunate to be able to provide unlimited, free access to the museum since it was founded in 1962,” Briar Bush Board President and Rydal resident Stan Lexow said in a Dec. 13 press release. “Instituting an admission fee was a difficult decision but one that will ultimately allow us to assure a strong future for this community treasure.”
The fees are:
- $3 for adults
- $2 for children (ages 2-17)
- Free for children under two years of age
Access to the grounds and the bird observatory will continue to be free of charge; all onsite program fees include admission to the museum.
Memberships include unlimited, free access to the museum, passes for visitors, as well as discounts on some programs.
