The Abington Township Rockledge Borough Republican Organization (ATRO)
drew a bevy of dignitaries and friends from across the state last week to
praise and roast former Congressman Jon Fox for his years of service as a public servant.
Check out the video.

Jon Fox, a great man and loyal friend and very deserving of this honor! I am proud to have Jon Fox as my loyal friend for more than 25 years! Congratulations Jon!

This was, by all accounts, both unprecedented and unable to be duplicated.
A "perfect storm" of history, uniqueness and accomplishment [@ all governmental levels] was celebrated; pivotal in the atmospherics was the fact that JDF envisions serving as Area Leader for ANOTHER third-of-a-century.
Next time--were there to be a "next time"--the event would have had to have been held @ the Abington High School stadium...to accommodate the turnout!

Jon Fox does not have a mean cell in his body. His enthusiastic upbeat encouragement energizes all. All the best to him and his family.

I'll always remember Jon Fox for the annoyance he always was during his period of moderate relevance. Who can forget him pestering early morning Roslyn Wawa patrons every November? Or how about all of the back taxes the Fox family owed over the years he was in office? There's something soothing about seeing his 18 heard old glamour shot on the ambulance chaser billboard he erected in the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia and knowing that he finally found his true calling.

Noting Guzzardi's comment, it would seem that..although Jon doesn't have a mean cell in his body...the same can't be said for Patch-bloggers.
It would also seem that one must consider the source of such statements, noting:
On March 5, 2012, Dykstra was sentenced to three years in prison following a no contest plea to charges of grand theft auto and filing a false financial statement. The sentencing was handed down in Los Angeles County Superior Court. According to court records and press reports, Dykstra and confederates obtained automobiles from various car dealerships using falsified bank statements and stolen identities.
Dykstra was named in the Mitchell Report on steroid use in Major League Baseball on December 13, 2007. The report cited multiple sources, including Kirk Radomski, stating that Dykstra used anabolic steroids during his MLB career. It also stated that the Commissioner of Baseball's office had known about Dykstra's steroid use since 2000. Dykstra did not agree to meet with the Mitchell investigators to discuss the allegations. On December 20, 2007, Dykstra was also named in Jason Grimsley's unsealed affidavit as an alleged user of steroids.[54]

Too bad you have to hide behind the name of a real loser. Why can't you reveal your identity?

Dykstra was also caught DUI in Radnor township further displaying his LEGO block mentality. What a horrible example for a role model. He is in prison where he belongs.

Dykstra, you are extremely mean spirited regarding your unkind remarks against Jon D. Fox. He always put his constituents ahead of everyone including at times his own family. Jon gets things done. he was an outstanding Abington Township Commissioner, Montgomery County Commissioner, PA State Rep as well as our US Congressman. He never embarrassed those that he serve so well. He continues his legacy a an outstanding DUI Attorney who does not try to have Defendants beat the rap but makes every effort to receive the help that they need. Jon is a very caring and sincere person. The country would be in much better shape if we had more politicians who had the high standards of serving the public and not themselves as does Jon D. Fox. I am extremely proud that he is my loyal friend.

In other news, if Senor Fox was as good as Vic advertised, he would probably still have a place in public office. If you would like me to put my "the Dude" on any 1986 Mets memorabelia Mr. Krievins, all you have to do is say please.

It is generally recognized that Jon lost in 1998 because he was portrayed as attempting to cut Medicare [on a non-definitive vote].
This is a guy who is so humble that he contributed material to his "roast" last Friday-p.m.; this is a guy who has accumulated so many friends over the decades that the turnout [335] was beyond-capacity...and will never be replicated within the local political community.
Your taunts are totally inappropriate, and you know it...so sad.

335 people, or less people than fit in any theater showing the Hunger Games this past weekend. Correct me if if I'm wrong Dr. Bob(...do you mind if I call you Dr. Bob M.D.?), but I'm fairly sure Josh Shapiro ran unopposed a few years back for the same state rep seat. I would think that would be difficult to replicate. Now if you're remarking on Fox's fall from state rep to Abington substitute teacher, then I would agree, I don't believe anyone else will be desperate enough to replicate that failure.

You are totally off-base, both in your knowledge and in your interpretation.
Each attendee paid $50, far more [for now] than a movie-ticket costs.
I was referring to his Congressional seat, not the 153rd State Rep. seat.
He is not a substitute teacher, although he lectures @ Manor Junior College.
Your arrogance/disrespect [exhibited here] contrast with Jon's interpersonal approach.

Jon is a great guy. My Wife and I have had an opportunity to know him for the last couple years and he has been nothing but friendly and welcoming to us.
It's a testament to Jon's character that you won't find him here on Patch posting disparaging remarks about others. He would rather be out continuing to build his good reputation with the community rather then using his time to try to tear someone down.

I had the opportunity to meet Jon Fox a few times. There were the handshakes at the Noble train station during election time and there was the one time he was canvassing door to door when I was living in an apartment near the Abington High School. He was cordial, pleasant and he never once asked me whether I was a Republican or Democrat. I can't speak much for him personally or even professionally, but he seems like a decent enough guy who has some very dedicated and loyal friends. Anyone who spends the amount of time in public service as he has deserves to be praised for any amount of good he has done.

This is true, particularly because his public service has never been marred by any accusation of abuse-of-office.

Jon Fox has been a "treasured" friend always participating in the Penn State Abington Basketball Tournament for Special Olympics for the last 30 years. He is always there with love and support for every special needs athlete who knows him as "Uncle Foxy!" This man has a heart as big as mother theresa. The men who spar back and forth with their egos and ignorance have hearts and brains as big as a canary bird.

Jon Fox has done an continues to do GREAT Things for our area. He does so for Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike. He is an excellent Role Model and Mentor for other Politicians. I don't know where Jon finds the hours in the day and the energy to do so much good for our community! Bravo Jon! We may never learn of everything you have done for all of us especially behind the scenes.

While serving as a Congressional Page in the US House of Representatives, I had the honor of meeting Mr. Fox on many occasions. When I was 17, Mr. Fox was one of the nicest people I had ever met that held an office of power and today at the age of 35, I still feel the same way. My friendship with Mr. Fox is treasured. ~Billy Kwilos (House Page Summer II 1995).

One year after he was honored, he has demonstrated the fact that this was not a covert "valedictory" for an impending "has-been" politician; JDF remains as engaged now as he was in 2012...and 1994,,,and 1980...and 1965....
