Abington Police Reports — 5/23
The following police reports were taken from the Abington Police records room May 23.
DUI crash … Edward J. McGowan, 20, of the 2700 block of Taft Avenue, Glenside, was arrested April 1 at 4:30 p.m. following a two-vehicle crash near the corner of Bradfield and Easton roads, police said. According to police, McGowan lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to negotiate a turn at the intersection and struck a stopped vehicle. McGowan smelled of “fruity alcohol,” had apparently spilled a liquid on his T-shirt, failed a field sobriety test, and had a blood alcohol content of 0.175 percent. McGowan’s blood also tested positive for the presence of Delta-9 carboxy THC and benzoylecgonine, an inactive metabolite of cocaine.
Possession of a small amount of marijuana … Aviv Roziner, 21, of the 100 block of Roy Lane, Huntingdon Valley, and Rebecca Christine Storz, 21, of the 2900 block of Easton Road, Glenside, were arrested April 13 at 10:05 p.m. following a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Jenkintown Road, police said. According to police, the vehicle smelled of marijuana, and loose marijuana was seen in the vehicle. Roziner and Storz were found in possession of marijuana, and Storz had a digital scale with marijuana residue in her possession, police said.
Possession of a controlled substance … Matthew Reischel Bryman, 51, of the 600 block of Edgehill Road, Abington, was arrested April 14 at 9:12 p.m. in the parking lot of Genuardi’s in the 2300 block of Susquehanna Road after he was seen driving southbound on Bradfield Road without his headlights on and with items hanging unsecured from his trunk, police said. According to police, Bryman had a glass pipe commonly used to smoke crack hidden in a cigarette package, as well as a translucent green baggie containing 0.54 grams of confirmed cocaine. Bryman said he recently “relapsed” from drug recovery.
DUI crash … Julian A. Cruz, 25, of the 800 block of Rhoads Avenue, Rydal, was arrested April 17 at 3:50 a.m. at his residence after he admitted to falling asleep while driving a tan Nissan Maxima, crashing into a fence and two parked cars on Huntingdon Pike, police said. According to police, Cruz left the vehicle at the corner of Essex and Clarendon roads and fled to his house because “he was scared.” Cruz had a blood alcohol content of 0.136 percent.
DUI … James Craig Evans, 22, of the 600 block of Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, was arrested April 18 at 12:13 a.m. near the corner of Huntingdon Pike and Susquehanna Road after police got a call that Evans was chasing another vehicle following an altercation, police said. According to police, Evans failed a field sobriety test, said he had three beers while at the Phillies game, and had a blood alcohol content of 0.12 percent.
DUI … William John Holden, 27, of the 1000 block of Easton Road, Abington, was arrested April 27 after he crossed the double-yellow line three times while driving westbound on Mount Carmel Avenue, almost hitting an oncoming vehicle, police said. According to police, Holden then made a left turn without signaling onto Fairhill Road and was ultimately stopped in the 2200 block. Holden smelled of alcohol, was slurring his speech and had bloodshot eyes. He failed two field sobriety tests, stumbled several times and almost fell over. According to police, Holden, who was driving with a suspended license, had a blood alcohol content of 0.204 percent.
