Man Had Crack Pipe in Grocery Store, Police Say
The following police reports were taken from the Abington Police records room.
Possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct … Cornell Bryant Garrett, 51, of Hilltop Lane, Wyncote, was arrested Jan. 23 at 1:24 p.m. near Acme in the 300 block of Old York Road after he attempted to steal several items from a shopping cart, police said. According to police, Garrett had a four-inch crack pipe in his possession.
Garrett has been arrested more than 10 times for theft and drug-related charges dating back to 2003.
DUI … Kurt Eugen Traub III, 33, of Connerstone Drive, Morrisville, Pa., was arrested Jan. 3 at 1:28 p.m. following a traffic stop on Fitzwatertown Road for driving with expired inspection and emission stickers, police said. According to police, Traub smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils. There were several empty bottles of vodka in Traub’s white Mercury Cougar. He failed three field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content of 0.245 percent.
Drug possession and littering … William Welsey Curtis-Bey, 34, of North 20th Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Jan. 2 at 7:37 a.m. following a traffic stop near the corner of Old York Road and Rubicam Avenue for driving 57 mph in a 40-mph zone on Old York Road, police said. According to police, there was a smell of raw marijuana emanating from Curtis-Bey’s vehicle. Police said Curtis-Bey dropped suspected marijuana on the ground; he also dropped a crumpled-up McDonald’s bag on the ground near his vehicle that contained suspected marijuana.
Possession of a small amount of marijuana … Gerardo Guarini III, 27, of Old York Road, Warminster, was arrested Dec. 23 at 11:19 p.m. following a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Susquehanna Road for driving over the double yellow lines and for having heavy tint on the rear window, police said. According to police, Guarini had a small bag of suspected marijuana in his hand as police approached the vehicle; Guarini said he did not want to hide it from police and admitted to smoking marijuana earlier.
DUI and careless driving … Melissa Creamer, 30, of Fanshawe Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Dec. 20 at 10:30 p.m. following a crash near the corner of Old York Road and Rydal Way, police said. According to police, Creamer smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, glassy eyes and failed three field sobriety tests. Creamer’s blood alcohol content was 0.295 percent, police said.
DUI and careless driving … Thomas Becker III, 26, of Rosewood Avenue, Trevose, was arrested Dec. 14 at 8:47 p.m. following a crash near the corner of Fitzwatertown and Oklahoma roads, police said. According to police, Becker said he lost control of his Suzuki motorcycle; it “slid out underneath him,” Becker said. According to police, the Second Alarmers transported Becker to Abington Memorial Hospital. Becker had a blood alcohol content of 0.091 percent. He does not have a motorcycle license.
DUI … Whitney Webb Howe, 31, of Moreland Avenue, Glenside, was arrested Nov. 17 at 7:24 p.m. following a crash near the corner of Township Line and High School roads in Elkins Park after Howe rear-ended another vehicle while driving westbound on Township Line Road, police said. According to police, Howe had poor balance, slurred speech and a staggered gait. Howe failed a field sobriety test and Howe’s blood tested positive for the presence of Delta-9 THC, clonazepam, alprazolam and oxycodone, police said.
