Abington, NHTSA: Wear Your Seatbelt
The 'Click It or Ticket' campaign runs through June 3.
Abington Police officers are conducting seat belt enforcement activities as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's “Click It or Ticket” initiative.

According to a May 21 Pennsylvania Department of Transportation press release, the enforcement will be conducted today near Abington High School.
Last year, 66 teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 died in car crashes in which they did not have their seat belt on, according to PennDOT. Statewide, there were 16,300 “unbelted” crashes last year — up 5 percent over 2010. However, last year saw fewer unbelted fatalities than 2010, 524 versus 509, respectively.
More than 600 law enforcement agencies across the state will participate in the “Click It or Ticket” initiative, which runs through June 3.
Neighboring Upper Moreland is also participating in a similar event near Upper Moreland High School.
